Alumna Combines Learning with Gold Award Project
Before spring break, students in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades were given the opportunity to participate in an afternoon workshop entitled “Think Better: Tips for Making the Most of Your Mind.” The students rotated through multiple stations and learned basic neurology, the effects of sleep, stress, nutrition, and exercise on the brain, and even how to prevent and deal with brain trauma. Demonstrating their enthusiastic participation, the students effortlessly aced the interactive post-quiz. The workshop was organized by alumnus Josephine Kalshoven ’11 in order to earn her Girl Scout Gold Award. Volunteers also included alumni Julia Kalshoven ’12 and Rachel Leader ’11.
