Saint Matthias Helps Families In Need
Last Saturday, parents from Saint Matthias dropped of Christmas gifts for two families in need. Through “The House of Ruth,” students brought in items to support families. Items from toys to sheets, and special joy for a baby being born soon flooded the office for the past few weeks. Saint Matthias families had an opportunity at home to talk about the needs of others. Our first ever Adopt a Family was a huge success.
In a special way, this service project highlighted the power of families to come together in times of need to help.
Special thanks to our Home and School Association for their leadership in our first ever “House of Ruth” Adopt a Family!
Saint Matthias families participate in service throughout the year. Currently, the Student Council is collecting hats and mittens for the Latin American Youth Center and a toy drive for the Adelphi Emergency Shelter. The Thanksgiving food drive supports the Saint Matthias parish food pantry. Students also participate in dress down days for internal and external fundraisers. In January, students will dress down to support St. Ann’s Center for Children, Youth and Families.
